Lawyer on diesel cars: "It's still being cheated"
A recent article published by the Swedish newspaper Expressen states, that Swedish diesel car owners are now eligible for compensation due to car manufacturers' deceptive practices in emissions testing. Despite the diesel scandal breaking nearly a decade ago, lawyer Theis Klauberg warns that manufacturers continue to cheat emissions data, with real-world diesel emissions significantly exceeding legal limits.
Theis, who has won numerous cases against German car manufacturers, emphasizes that the EU mandates compensation for defrauded car owners. Notably, every diesel vehicle emits harmful NOx particles at levels far above regulatory limits, leading to severe environmental and health consequences. The European Environment Agency reports approximately 38,000 premature deaths in Europe due to these excess emissions.
Klauberg Baltics provides resources to help car owners claim compensation. Theis also highlights that legal threats have led manufacturers to settle cases out of court to avoid losing their type approval in the EU.
